The Constitution TrainCottage at Rock Creek Farm - Plano, IL
Circa 1935, Mr. Lauren J. Drake of Chicago and owner of Rock Creek's Guernsey dairy farm purchased from the Pullman Car Company a private Pullman sleeper and dining car named 'Constitution'. A masterpiece of mechanical beauty, a luxury comfort and equipped with the most authentic finishings and equipment, this traincar holds 12-14 people. This car became historically known because it was used by presidents Woodrow Wilson and Warren Harding during their terms in office. The train is equipped with kitchen, dining room, two-like bedrooms, state-rooms, and regular sleeping berths.
In 1937, the Constitution was sold to the Holinger estate and made into a summer house using a concrete block foundation in place of the car tracks.
Since 1937, many improvements have been made to both the Constitution and the estate. An additional full bedroom and bathroom have been added as well as a full screened in patio with a wood burning fireplace and seating for 15. A modern, fully working kitchen has been installed as well as heating and air conditioning. An in-ground pool, tree house, and full baseball diamond compliment the estate to complete this TrainCottage in Plano, IL.
Owners Willie and Carol Cade have a full time staff that maintains and improves the estate and the Constitution. They host family and church gatherings in this warm, cozy, fun get-away tucked between the cornfields of centeral Illinois.
